Hi! I’m Ingrid, the human behind Girl’s Best Friend

I've been working professionally with dogs since 2016, and what started as a love for dogs has evolved into a career dedicated to understanding their behavior, communication, and relationships with the people who love them.

My experience began in kennel environments, where I developed a foundation in canine body language, group dynamics, and everyday management. From there, I moved into playgroup management, apprenticed in board and train programs, and eventually transitioned into professional dog training in 2021.

Over the years, I've worked with dogs of countless breeds, temperaments, backgrounds, and behavioral challenges. If there's one thing that experience has taught me, it's that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to dog training.

My Approach

I believe effective training starts with understanding the dog in front of you.

Every dog is shaped by their genetics, temperament, environment, and experiences. Before we can reasonably ask them to behave differently, we need to understand what is motivating their behavior and whether our expectations are appropriate.

My approach prioritizes clear communication, relationship-building, engagement, thoughtful management, and meaningful fulfillment. I believe in teaching dogs what we want them to do, setting them up for success, and providing fair, consistent feedback along the way.

Training can accomplish incredible things, but it cannot fundamentally change who a dog is. My goal is to help owners better understand their dogs, establish realistic expectations, and develop the skills to navigate everyday life together.

Education & Experience

Continuing education is an important part of my work, and I believe that being a good trainer means remaining a student of dogs.

My professional education includes coursework through the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers, with a focus on behavior modification, engagement, and play. I also regularly pursue additional education through Leerburg Online University and professional seminars, including opportunities to learn from Michael Ellis and Dr. Melanie Uhde.

I'm also a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP).

What I Want for My Clients

My goal isn't to make you dependent on a trainer. It's to help you become a more confident, capable, and informed dog owner.

I want you to understand what your dog is communicating, why certain behaviors happen, and how your decisions can influence the outcome.

Our work together extends beyond obedience. We'll explore management, lifestyle, fulfillment, and the everyday habits that contribute to your dog's behavior and overall well-being.

Ultimately, I want you to walk away with more than a dog who knows a few commands. I want you to have a stronger relationship with your dog and the confidence to continue building on that foundation.

Better communication. Stronger relationships. Happier dogs & humans.
